The National Funding Office of the UC Office of Research aims to strengthen the University’s institutional capacity to secure competitive funding from national sources. To achieve this, it provides guidance and support to faculty members throughout the entire grant application lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities and interpreting call guidelines to conducting technical proposal reviews, coordinating institutional endorsement, and liaising with funding agencies. The Office also coordinates strategic internal funding competitions, promotes the development of high-quality research projects, and contributes to strengthening the University’s research ecosystem through specialized support and the efficient management of competitive funding processes.

Strengthening research has been a fundamental pillar of the university work of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and recognizes the contribution made by Postdoctoral Researchers in this area. For this reason, the category is formalized to register, manage, and recognize all these researchers at our university.

With the growing number of postdoctoral researchers across the University’s academic units, in 2018 the University established the position of Postdoctoral Researcher Representative to foster effective communication between postdoctoral researchers and the University leadership, particularly the Office of Research.
That same year, and with the aim of expanding opportunities for dialogue, the University created the University Forum. Its purpose is to provide a space for reflection and discussion where the UC community can exchange ideas and experiences on issues of particular relevance to the University and the country. Chaired by the President of the University, the Forum brings together University authorities and representatives of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty members in the regular and special academic tracks, professional staff, labor unions, administrative staff, and alumni. As part of this initiative, the position of Postdoctoral Researcher Representative was established.

The cost of the Childcare Center is not fully covered by the University. Postdoctoral researchers are responsible for paying a portion of the childcare costs.
The five available places are distributed as follows:
Places are allocated on a rolling basis, meaning they are assigned in the order applications are received, subject to availability.
To apply for a place, postdoctoral researchers should contact the social worker at their corresponding campus. The social worker will assist with the admission application and forward it to the childcare center. Subsequently, the Head Early Childhood Educator will contact the applicant to schedule an interview, provide a tour of the facilities, and share information about the educational program, regulations, protocols, and the center’s general operation.
The contact information is provided below:

The Award for Excellence in Research (PREI) is a competitive program designed to recognize UC faculty members for their research publications in indexed scholarly journals, books, book chapters, and art catalogs.
Faculty members holding an academic appointment of 22 hours per week or more in the regular, special, or adjunct academic track at the time of application and award are eligible to apply. Visiting Professors, Instructors, and Postdoctoral Researchers are not eligible.
The Undergraduate Research Program (IPRE) promotes the early involvement of undergraduate students in research projects by encouraging their integration into research teams led by UC faculty members.
The Undergraduate Research Program (IPRE) is a biannual funding competition held during the Summer and Winter terms. Its objective is to encourage undergraduate students to participate in research projects across all fields of knowledge and artistic creation by supporting student research activities carried out under the supervision of a UC faculty member.
All regularly enrolled undergraduate students, regardless of their year or semester of study, are eligible to apply.
The External Grant Proposal Development Support (AFP) is a funding program administered by the Office of Research (DINV) that provides financial support to researchers for hiring personnel or acquiring essential resources to facilitate the preparation of external research grant proposals. Its purpose is to strengthen proposal development, particularly during stages that require intensive secondary data collection. Eligible expenses include research assistant support, translation services, preliminary field studies, and bibliographic resources.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Research or creative practice assistants are currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students appointed by the corresponding Academic Unit to support the research or creative activities of projects led by UC faculty members, provided that these activities are not part of their formal academic curriculum.
Graduates may also be appointed to perform these duties. In such cases, they are designated as External Research or Creative Practice Assistants.
